Energy generation through wind is still young and every year there are more efficient turbines.
The demand for power in the country is ever-increasing. A number of power projects are being set up to meet this growing demand, at the same time ensuring that they do not adversely impact the environment. Windmills are the ideal solution to this problem and Tamilnadu is the leader in the country, accounting for half the country's wind energy generation.
Caring for reduction in the country's carbon footprint, Surana Corporation Limited has entered wind energy. The existing installed capacity of 4.25 MW (5 mills) has been further expanded by 25 MW (76 mills). Entire power generated is currently sold to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB).
